Terms of Service

Last updated 7 October 2026

1. Agreement

These terms form a contract between you and Mathora (“we”, “us”) for use of Mathora (the “Service”). By creating an account, or by using the Service without one, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Acceptable Use Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service.
  • You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password and sign-in details confidential, and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
  • Only one personal account per person is allowed unless we agree otherwise in writing.

3. The Service

Mathora is a browser-based workspace for calculations, including unit handling, unit conversion, dimensional checking and sharing. It is an early version and may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes, but we may need to make urgent changes for security or legal reasons.

4. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the projects, formulas, notes and other material you create (“Your Content”).
  • You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, process and display Your Content only as needed to operate the Service, keep it backed up, and show it to the people you share it with.
  • You are responsible for Your Content, and for having the rights to use and share it.
  • Keep your own copies of important work. You can download all your projects from Settings → Download backup. We take reasonable steps to protect your data but cannot guarantee it will never be lost.

5. Sharing and links

You control who can see and change each project. A project shared as “Anyone with the link” can be opened by anyone who has the link, and a project shared with editors can be changed by them. Viewers who are allowed to copy or download a project can keep their copies after your access is removed. We cannot remove copies that other people have already made. Think carefully before sharing sensitive material.

6. Acceptable use

You must use the Service lawfully and follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Calculation results and engineering use

Mathora helps you check and present calculations, but its results are provided for information only. The unit library, dimensional checks and conversions are software and may contain errors or may not match the standards, codes or assumptions that apply to your work.

You are responsible for independently checking any result before you rely on it. Do not use Mathora alone to make decisions about safety, design, construction, medical, financial or legal matters. Engineers and other professionals must verify calculations through their own qualified review.

8. Fees

The Service is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features or plans, we will show the price and terms before you buy, and those purchases will be subject to additional terms. Nothing in these terms requires you to pay for the Service.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, the Mathora name and logo, and the unit and formula engine, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose while you comply with these terms. No other rights are granted. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them without restriction or payment.

10. Third-party services

The Service may link to or rely on third-party services, such as Google sign-in. Their use is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access immediately if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the Service or other users. On termination your right to use the Service ends. Sections 4 (for retained copies and backups), 7, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 15 continue to apply.

12. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure against every threat.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or £100 if you paid nothing).

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from Your Content, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the Service, to the extent the law allows.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Mathora's operator is based, and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, except that you keep any right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where the law gives you that right.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give you at least 14 days’ notice by email or in the Service. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept them.

17. General

These terms, with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may transfer our rights under these terms to a successor business; you may not transfer yours without our written consent. Failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
